Free WiFi access in the guest rooms (and entire hotel) should be a standard feature by now in all international hotel chains, wouldn't you agree? But it's not! Most international hotel chains still charge for the internet access, sometimes ridiculous amounts.
Just stayed at Hilton Beijing, and although they offer free WiFi in the lobby, you pay 30 cents per minute for the access in the convenience of your room (or anywhere else in the hotel), so 2 hours internet access costs you EUR 36,-
McDonalds, on the other hand, gets it. If there is no other reason to visit McDonalds; it is the free WiFi access in all of their restaurants worldwide - no matter if you check-in to McD in New York, Beijing or Dubai. It is about the time that the international hotel chains (in all categories from budget to luxurious) also offer free WiFi in their guest rooms as a standard service.
